Happy Friday, everyone! Here’s what’s going on with me, but skip the first thing if you already heard me talking about it on social media!

The release date for my romcom novel, Her Knight at the Museum, got moved up from December to Tuesday, Nov. 12!

When I got an email from my editor saying there was a pub date change, at first I assumed that the book had bumped to 2025. As I was just saying in my post, “Why Book Publication Dates Get Delayed,” this happens all the time.

Instead, my editor explained that because retailers were excited about the book, it had been moved up. Honestly, I was over the moon (and still am!) I’m so glad that people are looking forward to my story about a medieval knight in modern-day Chicago. You can pre-order it on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and elsewhere!

A TikTok Setback May Be For the Best

I’ve been working to build a following on TikTok because as an author, I know that’s meaningful to publishers. And it’s kind of fun! I’d set a goal for April of uploading every day. Unfortunately, TikTok has flagged my last few videos as being inappropriate…which of course, they are not! (You can view my last one here; it’s just a tip about book cover design!)

Naturally, I felt a little disappointed, but then I decided I’d just focus on my blog and Instagram for spring and summer. This blog really is my happy place, so I hate to neglect it!

When you’re on every platform, you can start to feel a bit spread thin, anyway. 😊 Do any other authors feel that way?

I’m at the Spring Fling Writing Conference in Chicago!

Bryn Donovan at Spring Fling writing conferenceMy local writing organization, Chicago-North Romance Writers, is hosting this conference. I’m on one panel, moderating another one, volunteering a bit…and teaching a Master Class on Irresistible Book Titles and Covers! I worked really hard to put the class together, and I’m really proud of it. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to an in-person conference, and the fact that I’m super awkward doesn’t change the fact that I love seeing people in person.

I May Actually Be Developing Healthy Habits?

Last week, I worked out seven days in a row, for the first time in…maybe ten years? As of now I’m on a ten-day streak! I think most people would say they are wimpy workouts, but hey, you’ve got to start somewhere. My husband and I joined an inexpensive small gym right by our house, and we have my brother’s old elliptical machine in the basement.

I also haven’t had a drink in almost a month. I’ve never been a heavy enough drinker for my doctor or anyone else to be concerned, so while I’ve quit for weeks or months in the past, I’ve never thought it was a big deal. But recently, I realized I just don’t enjoy a cocktail or a glass of wine like I used to. I get too listless and headache-y. Everyone’s body is different, so what doesn’t feel good to me might feel fine to someone else! But I think I’ve probably given it up for good.

How is your spring going?

Do you have thoughts about TikTok, or social media platforms in general? Do you ever go to writing conferences? Do you exercise, or not so much? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments! Have a great weekend!
