Hi, friends! Today I have an article on the Writer’s Digest website called “Forced Proximity: 50 Reasons for Your Characters To Be Stuck Together.” I’ve blogged before about how helpful it is to a romance novel plot to give your couple an actual reason to see each other a lot, and as I explain in the article, forced proximity can be helpful for other kinds of stories, too.
I hope you’ll check it out. Here’s the link!

Headed over to have a look! I’m always in the market for a new forced proximity idea. Thank you!
Love this!
Hi Bryn, I enjoyed your article. Thanks for the prompts. Forced proximity sounds like a great idea and one that my current fantasy WIP characters would love to have. Problem is, after the first five chapters she falls into another realm and he is left behind. They will both be working and questing to be reunited. In the meantime, it’s tough to keep the relationship strong. I ask myself can thoughts and longing be sufficient?
Great topic for an article!
Hi Bryn. I love these prompts, they are so inspiring. Thank you for sharing these.
On a side note – Season’s Greetings!
This was very helpful. Also the Steven James tips you included with a link.
You are amazing. Congratulations on your Digest article, which is such a great tool for us all.
