Hey friends! I am still waiting on my edits for The Equinox Stone, and meanwhile, I’ve started collaborating on a book trailer for it.
I originally hadn’t been planning on doing a second trailer, but since I’m getting YouTube subscribers due to my new series, Blank Page to Final Draft, I figured, why not?
The trailer for The Equinox Stone will be very much in the vein of the trailer for book one, The Phoenix Codex. Like this first one, it’ll be about a minute in length.
I blogged about creating a book trailer here. It all starts with the words and the music.
The Equinox Stone includes otherworldly magic, very sweet and emotional scenes, explicit love scenes, and violence. It’s a little tricky to find a music clip that incorporates all that!
As a reminder, here’s what the cover looks like.
Here are three music clips I’m interested in licensing. I’d love to hear your opinions! I’m getting some votes from real-life friends as well. (By the way, you’ll hear a guy say “Pond 5” over and over…it’s the audio equivalent of a watermark on an image, since I haven’t licensed any of these yet.)
#1 – This is by the same guy who did the music for the trailer in book one. In fact, I almost chose this track for the first one. The title of the song is “From the Ashes,” which is incredibly appropriate for the story.
#2 – I like how this one builds, and I like what happens at the end, where I’d be sharing the actual book cover and information.
#3 – I like this one, too!
Pond 5 has such a huge selection of stock music, and I listened to so many tracks that weren’t right for my project, but were so evocative and inventive. (They’re not paying me to say that, by the way.)
Do you have a favorite? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading…and for listening…and have a great week!
I liked the first one. I listened to all three a few times. I eliminated the second, then debated between the first and third. I decided the first one would best match your description of the book.
Thanks for voting, Bonnie! I am still trying to decide. I love getting the input!
Oh gosh, those are three great choices. You’re right, I like the way the second one builds, but knowing that the first one is the same artist you used for the first book, and how perfect the title is my vote is for #1.
Katrina, thanks for listening! I appreciate the vote! 🙂
You have excellent taste because I like them all too. But I vote for………..№2.
Aw thank you Bryan! And thanks for giving it a listen and voting. I’m still not sure what I’ll do. 🙂
Wow, I like all three. Good choices. I think I would vote for #2 though – it was my favorite.
Thanks for voting, Cheryl! This vote isn’t making it any easier, haha. But it’s so much fun to think about the choices.
I listened to the selections several times. #1 is my favorite.
Jessie, thanks for thinking about it! It seems to be a tie so far, and I’m leaning toward #1.
Honestly, I found #3 the most powerful emotionally! But I love how similar #1 feals to the music in the trailer for The Phoneix Code so maby #1.
Hi, Amy-Claire! That’s a good point…#1 is more consistent with the first one!
I vote 2.
Thanks for voting, Erin! It seems to be a tie so far, haha!
I like number two because it sounds like an action scene from one of those Jason Bourne movies, but maybe that’s because I watched it last night. It definitely made me excited and want to read. Great post by the way.
Hi, Christopher! Well, the Bourne movies are some of my all-time favorites…and incredibly appropriate here, since Michael has lost his memories!
I liked all three, but #3 is the best choice for me. Powerful enough and so not just a repeat of your first book.
One and three are my favorites, but one “feels” more romantic in tone than three.
It’s a close tie between the first and the second one for me. The first one has an eerie feel to it and makes me think about falling ashes. The second one has a good and active sound and I like how it has that break at the end where you can show the image of your book and other information.
